Athletes will be able to switch distances at any time. Just show up at the start time of your choice.

Location & Parking

Race HQ is at Wilson Lodge in Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill. There is a parking lot next to Wilson Lodge, but this is reserved for race staff and volunteers. Driving past the Lodges, there is a one-way, counter-clockwise loop for accessing a baseball field and several pavilions. We have reserved these pavilions for event parking. We will be directing traffic on the day of the races, so keep an eye out for our volunteers. We would like to fill in spaces starting at the end of the loop, so keep driving forward on the loop until directed.

Please do not park on the race course or on the main park road. Please do not park in the small lots by the jump off, as these are reserved for other visitors to the park. Note that the main park road is one-way, counter-clockwise, so be careful when leaving the park.

Course

Half Marathon

The Half Marathon course will consist of a full 13.1 miles of one-way running with no two-way traffic. You can expect to enjoy some amazing wooded trails that you might not have experienced before. The course consists of a high percentage of rolling tree-covered single-track located mostly around the summit of Gannett Hill, the highest point in Ontario County. You will run on nearly every trail within Ontario County Park, as well as a few trail surprises. There will be rocks, roots, wooden bridges, and some awe-inspiring views.

Private Land
Between miles 4-7 the course will run through privately-owned land. First it will follow the Finger Lakes Trail (orange blazed trail) through privately-owned property, restricted by Finger Lakes Trail Use Guidelines. The course will then shoot down the shoulder of W Hollow Rd / County Rd 33 until it reaches the Gell Center property. We are able to use the Gell Center trails due to the generosity of Writers & Books. Please do not trespass on their property before race day and respect their property during the race.

Aid Stations

Three fully-stocked aid stations, every 3-4 miles along the course, with water, Skratch Labs electrolyte drinks, GU gels, and snacks. We strongly encourage half marathon runners to bring their own hydration packs, especially if the weather is warm. We encourage everyone to bring their own drinking vessel of choice, as the number of cups at aid stations will be limited.

We will entertain requests for transporting personal drop bags to aid stations, in particular to stations 1 and 3. Let us know if you are interested in this option when you check in.

5 Mile

The 5 mile course starts just like the Half Marathon, but runners will turn a different direction at Aid Station 1 (approximately mile 3). The course stays completely within Ontario County Park and stays on trails with relatively little elevation change.

Glamping

New this year, we will be offering the option to camp out the night before the race in the area by the lodges. As part of this option, you will be able to use the reserved parking lot by the lodges, receive an invitation to some casual Friday night social events, and we will provide breakfast in the morning. There are also options to use one of the campsites or cabins at the park, but athletes will need to make their own arrangements with Ontario County Parks.

Glamper's Schedule (estimated)
Friday 6:00 PM - Welcome reception @ Watkins featuring wines from Inspire Moore Winery (black tie optional)
Friday 7:15 PM - Sunset hike to the Jumpoff (half mile round trip)
Friday 8:00 PM - Showing of a selection of trail running short films @ Watkins
Friday 10:00 PM - Taps featuring the musical stylings of Troop 129 Scoutmaster Izzo
Saturday 6:00 AM - Breakfast of fruit, eggs, oatmeal, coffee, tea, and baked goods from Plenty the Bakery @ Watkins

Tent camping will be in the area surrounding the lodges. Parking and vehicle camping will be available in the parking lot next to Wilson Lodge. There are four bathrooms in the park, including the one right in Wilson Lodge. There are shower facilities available in a bathroom by the RV camping.
